Chesaning Fireworks in the Park
Kick off the holiday weekend early in Chesaning at Showboat Park along the Shiawassee River. Gates open at 4:00 PM with food vendors on-site, and the fireworks launch at dusk. Fenton Freedom Festival
One of Genesee County's most beloved holiday traditions, the Fenton Freedom Festival is a full weekend of patriotic celebration. The festival kicks off Friday, July 3 with the Silver Lake Ski Show at 7:00 PM at Silver Lake Park. On Saturday, July 4, the day is packed:

FIM Holiday Celebration & Flint Water Festival: America 250 Experience
Downtown Flint's signature Independence Day event marks America's 250th birthday with a free celebration at the Downtown Flat Lot. The evening features a free concert, fireworks, a carnival, food trucks, a splash park, pickleball, a Captain America screening, and an Ultimate Beyoncé Tribute. It's a vibrant, community-centered event and a wonderful way to experience downtown Flint's revitalization.
Swartz Creek Fireworks Extravaganza
Swartz Creek brings the community together with food, drinks, yard games, and a fireworks display to cap off Independence Day. A relaxed, family-friendly celebration close to Flint — perfect for those who want a local option without a long drive.
Crossroads Village Independence Day Celebration
Step back in time at Crossroads Village, the 19th-century living history village in the Flint area. The Independence Day celebration features an ice cream social and a reading of the Declaration of Independence — a patriotic, educational experience wrapped in old-fashioned charm. Huckleberry Railroad rides, historic demonstrations, and family activities round out the day.
Midland Fourth of July Celebration
Midland offers a full day of Independence Day programming with historical events, live music, food trucks, and a community Declaration of Independence reading and signing downtown. The day begins at 10:00 AM with a flag raising ceremony at the Andersen and Court Street Bridge, then the fireworks launch at approximately 10:00 PM from the Ojibway Island area. Corunna 4th of July Celebration
Corunna's all-day Independence Day Celebration at Hugh McCurdy Park is Shiawassee County's signature July 4th event. The lineup includes a Firecracker 5K, craft show, car show, a belt sander drag race (yes, really), a community parade, and family-friendly activities throughout the day — all capped by a fireworks display after dark. Livingston County 250th Celebration
Livingston County celebrates America's 250th anniversary with a spectacular fireworks, light show, and music at Howell High School. Parking lots open at 7:30 PM and the show begins at 10:00 PM. Brighton & Whitmore Lake July 4th Parades
Two Livingston County towns kick off Independence Day morning with parades at 10:00 AM on Main Street. In Brighton, expect decorated floats, classic cars, and community groups marching through the walkable downtown. Whitmore Lake offers a smaller, lakeside-community parade with the same patriotic spirit. Arrive early for curb-side seating at either location, and make a morning of it by exploring local shops and cafés before or after.

Lapeer Annual Fireworks
Keep the celebrations going the weekend after the Fourth with Lapeer's annual fireworks display. The show begins at 10:00 PM at Rolland-Warner Middle School (3145 W. Genesee St).
